Psychosocial Oncology Program

Psychosocial Oncology Program at ICC: Supporting Patients Holistically

The Psychosocial Oncology Program at the Indian Cancer Center (ICC) is dedicated to addressing the emotional, social, and psychological needs of cancer patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. Led by a team of experienced counselors, psychologists, and social workers, this program offers comprehensive support to enhance the overall well-being and quality of life of patients facing cancer.

Emotional Support:

The program provides individual and group counseling sessions to help patients navigate the emotional challenges associated with cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Patients and their families receive guidance and coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other psychosocial concerns effectively.

Crisis Intervention:

In times of crisis or acute distress, the Psychosocial Oncology Program offers immediate support and crisis intervention services to address urgent emotional needs and provide a sense of stability and reassurance to patients and their families.

Education and Information:

The program delivers educational resources and information to patients and their families to help them better understand cancer-related issues, treatment options, and psychosocial aspects of cancer care. Psychoeducational workshops and seminars cover topics such as communication skills, coping strategies, and resilience-building techniques.

Support Groups:

ICC facilitates support groups where patients can connect with others facing similar experiences, share their stories, and provide mutual support. These groups foster a sense of community, reduce feelings of isolation, and offer a supportive environment for emotional expression and validation.

Caregiver Support:

In recognition of the vital role caregivers play in supporting cancer patients, the Psychosocial Oncology Program also provides support services specifically tailored to the needs of caregivers. This may include counseling, education, and respite care to help caregivers cope with their caregiving responsibilities and maintain their own well-being.

Integration with Comprehensive Care:

The Psychosocial Oncology Program is seamlessly integrated into ICC's comprehensive cancer care model, ensuring that psychosocial support services are readily accessible and fully integrated into patients' treatment plans. By addressing the emotional and psychological aspects of cancer care, the program aims to improve patient outcomes, enhance quality of life, and promote holistic healing for individuals affected by cancer at ICC.
